Admission Criteria

General Criteria

  • The highest qualification of a candidate will be the primary basis for admission evaluation.
  • Candidates unable to provide verifiable proof of meeting admission requirements will not be permitted to continue their studies.

Specific Admission Requirements by NQF Levels

Level 1: Grade 9 or an equivalent qualification, or a pre-NQF Level 1 Qualification/Course.

Level 2: An accredited NQF Level 1 qualification or an equivalent.

Level 3: Namibian Junior Certificate (Grade 10) or an equivalent, or an accredited NQF Level 2 qualification.

Level 4: Namibian Senior Certificate Ordinary (Grade 11) or an equivalent with at least 14 points in 6 subjects, or an accredited NQF Level 3 qualification.

Level 5: Namibian Senior Certificate Ordinary (NSSCO)/Higher (NSSCH)/Advance Subsidiary (AS) or an equivalent with at least 25 points in 6 subjects, or an accredited NQF Level 4 qualification. This level represents the first year of the Bachelors Degree programme.

Level 6: An accredited NQF Level 5 qualification in a related field.

Level 7: An accredited NQF Level 6 qualification in a related field.

Level 8: A Bachelors Degree or an accredited NQF Level 7 qualification in a related field.

Level 9: A Bachelor Honours Degree or an accredited NQF Level 8 qualification in a related field.

 

Other Admission Entries

Mature Age Entry

Candidates seeking admission through the Mature Age Entry Scheme must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Be at least 23 years old on the first day of the academic year for which admission is sought.
  • Preferably have successfully completed junior secondary education.
  • Possess at least three years of work experience in the relevant field of study.
  • Demonstrate English language competence at a minimum of NQF Level 2.
  • Hold at least a Junior Secondary Certificate for admission to Level 4 programmes (if required for a specific course).
  • Hold at least a Senior Secondary Certificate for admission to Level 5 programmes (if required for a specific course).

Note: Certain programmes may exclude Mature Age Entry Applicants due to industry requirements or the scientific/mathematical nature of the programme.

Pre-Arrival Planning

In accordance with the Namibian Immigration Control Act (Act No. 7 of 1993), all international students are required to obtain a valid Student Permit prior to attending any training or educational institution in Namibia.

Student Permit Requirements

To apply for a Student Permit, you will need the following:

  • A valid passport (copy required)
  • Passport-sized photos
  • Medical certificate
  • Radiological report
  • Deed of surety
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Proof of admission to the institution
  • Progress report from your previous school or institution

Ensure all documents are accurate and up to date to avoid delays in processing your permit.
