The International Training College Lingua has officially inaugurated its new training centre in Usakos on 19 November 2025, marking a significant milestone for education, skills development, and community upliftment in the Erongo Region. During the ceremony, Erongo Governor Natalia /Goagoses described the launch as “a moment of pride for Usakos and the entire region.” She reflected on Lingua’s 24-year evolution—from a modest language institution to one of Namibia’s earliest fully accredited private colleges, now offering qualifications from Certificate Level 1 through to PhD Level 10. She stated that the establishment of the Usakos campus directly supports national priorities centred on widening educational access, empowering young people, and boosting employment creation. Usakos Mayor Irene Simeon-Kurz commended Lingua’s leadership for selecting the town for expansion, calling it a strong testament to Usakos’ potential. She referenced the 2024 Memorandum of Understanding between the Usakos Town Council and Lingua College, noting that the agreement laid the groundwork for a partnership focused on driving local economic progress and promoting educational advancement. “This institution represents more than infrastructure; it stands as a doorway to skills, opportunity and long-term prosperity,” she remarked. Lingua College Founder and CEO, Ingrid Kloppers-Mettler, expressed deep satisfaction at extending the institution’s footprint to communities often overlooked by mainstream development. She announced that the new centre will offer programmes in agriculture, business studies, information technology, engineering disciplines, education, tourism, healthcare and related fields. Kloppers-Mettler encouraged residents to fully embrace learning as a catalyst for transformation, emphasising that an educated community contributes to innovation, improved governance, cultural preservation and the empowerment of local youth. |
