The International Training College – Lingua has officially opened its Rehoboth Campus, marking a significant advancement for education in the Hardap Region. The inauguration was attended by senior regional leaders, including Hardap Governor Hon. Riaan McNab, Rehoboth Mayor Hon. Justin Coetzee, members of the Town Council, Lingua Founder & CEO Mrs. Ingrid Kloppers-Metler, senior executives of the institution, and representatives from various sectors. The new campus is widely regarded as a major step toward improving access to tertiary education, reducing financial barriers, and expanding training opportunities for young people in the region. In his address, Mayor Coetzee described the launch as the fulfilment of a long-standing community aspiration, noting that many residents have historically been forced to relocate to pursue higher learning. He commended Mrs. Kloppers-Metler for supporting the Town Council’s initiative and enabling Lingua’s expansion into southern Namibia. Delivering the keynote speech, Governor McNab praised the project as a milestone in human capital development and lauded Lingua’s evolution from a small language centre to an established multi-disciplinary institution. He noted that the campus aligns with national development priorities under Vision 2030 and NDP6, and called on the business community, civil society, and faith-based organisations to partner with Lingua in advancing educational opportunities. Mrs. Kloppers-Metler highlighted the symbolic timing of the launch, which coincides with Lingua’s anniversary, and expressed gratitude to the Council for its support. She affirmed that the institution aims to replicate its Windhoek programme offerings in Rehoboth, including Early Childhood Development, vocational training, Tourism and Hospitality, and health-related services. The campus opening follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on 4 July 2025. The establishment of the Rehoboth Campus represents a renewed commitment to accessible, community-centred education and marks a promising new chapter for the town’s development. |
